Abstract

The present study was conducted with the aim of designing a contract farming (CF) model to improve the value chain of the poultry industry in Tehran province. This study is considered a descriptive-analytical research in terms of nature, and applied in terms of purpose, and data and information were collected using the library method and in-depth interviews. The research method used was Grounded Theory. In this study, the population included 14 senior managers of poultry production units and producers, especially the Poultry Farmers' Union in Tehran province, who were selected through purposive sampling. Interviews with the target population continued until theoretical saturation was reached. Research validity was achieved by using member credibility and presenting the results to the study subjects, and the reliability of the research was achieved by using process auditing. The content analysis method was used to analyze the data using the qualitative data analysis software, MAXQDA 12. The data from the interviews were analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding, and 96 concepts and 24 categories were extracted from the data in the form of a paradigmatic model (causal conditions, strategies, context conditions, intervening factors, and consequences), which showed that several factors affect contract farming in the poultry industry value chain. The results of this research can help poultry production unit managers and producers to gain a better understanding of the importance and impact of contract farming on improving the value chain of their products and implement appropriate strategies to ensure the sustainability and growth of their businesses.
