Abstract

Given the key role of hospitals’ internal social responsibility in employee well-being, the present study aimed to develop an interpretive structural model of the antecedents of employee well-being based on internal social responsibility in hospitals affiliated with Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. In terms of purpose, this study was developmental; in terms of data collection, it employed a descriptive-survey design; and in terms of methodology, it was quantitative. The statistical population consisted of hospital experts, of whom 10 were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire in the form of an n × n matrix. Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) was employed to identify the relationships among the dimensions of the model. Based on the findings, job and work environment, employee welfare, justice and fairness, organizational climate and culture, compensation, social capital, leadership, training and development, and financial and job security were identified as antecedents of employee well-being. Furthermore, the results of Interpretive Structural Modeling indicated that justice and fairness, social capital, and organizational climate and culture were located in the independent cluster and exerted substantial influence on the other antecedents of employee well-being in hospitals affiliated with Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Therefore, strengthening these three factors can improve and enhance employee well-being by promoting the other antecedents of well-being in hospitals affiliated with Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.
